Professor von Krogh joins the Scientific Advisory Board of the University of Vienna

Georg von Krogh, Professor for Strategic Management and Innovation at D-MTEC, has been appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board of the University of Vienna. The Board monitors and analyses the University within the context of the international academic landscape and advises it in matters of long-term strategy.

Georg von Krogh brings a wealth of experience to this new appointment. He chairs the International Advisory Board at the Norwegian Research Council and has been a member of the Advisory Board at the Business School of the Polytechnic University of Milan; in addition, he is the Chair of the ETH Global Advisory Board, which advises the ETH President on international strategy and is a member of two ETH commissions.

I am especially interested in science and innovation policy and how the right policies may promote the advancement of society and the economy.”

Von Krogh says he considers it a great honour to have been asked to support the University of Vienna in this capacity. “I also look forward to contributing to building further relations between our own ETH Zurich and the external pageUniversity of Vienna,” he adds.

The newly appointed Scientific Advisory Board is a testament to the University of Vienna's commitment to excellence. It comprises nine independent and internationally renowned researchers, and its members are meticulously selected by the University’s Rectorate, the University Board, and the Senate, the University’s highest governing body. “Georg’s outstanding expertise in the fields of strategy and innovation is of particular interest to the University of Vienna, and we look forward to enriching discussions with him,” Professor Ronald Maier, Vice-Rector of the University of Vienna, says upon von Krogh’s appointment.

About Georg von Krogh

Georg von Krogh was born in Oslo, Norway. He holds the Chair of Strategic Management and Innovation in the Management, Technology, and Economics Department (D-MTEC) at ETH Zurich.

He specialises in competitive strategy, technological innovation, and knowledge management and has conducted research on several industries, including financial services, media, computer software and hardware, life sciences, and consumer goods.

He is a Deputy Editor at the Academy of Management Journal, the top scientific journal in the field of management, chairs the ETH Global Advisory Board, and serves on both the Strategy Commission and the Risk Management Commission of ETH Zurich.
